Zoë Bell: Kicking Another Year’s Ass

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009         Posted in Movies, Originals | 2 Comments »

Watch the Full Feature Length version of Angel Of Death on Crackle today.

“That’s my acting double.”
- Zoë Bell talking about Lucy Lawless in the 2004 stuntwomen documentary Double Dare.

Audiences have watched her for nearly fifteen years as she boldly bloodies big screen bad guys on behalf of Hollywood’s fairer sex. She’s a favorite of Quentin Tarantino, and the star of the Crackle Original Angel of Death which gets its full length online debut this month. To top it all off, today is her birthday. To celebrate, watch Zoë Bell in the feature length version of Angel of Death on Crackle, or as Comics Alliance previously announced catch it on AOL, Bebo, Friendster, or in the feature length or original episodic version on YouTube.

With all this Bell in the internet ether, perhaps it’s time for a Birthday Haiku?

Missi Pyle: Sexy, Funny, Friend of Bears

Monday, November 16th, 2009         Posted in Movies, Television | No Comments »

Minisode above, and watch more Pyle in the full length episode, The Tick: “Arthur Needs Space”.

It’s Missi Pyle’s birthday, and that means it’s time for a trivia laden Birthday Haiku tribute:

She’s a Maxim chick,

Who can make you laugh out loud.
Bear specialist’s wife.

In 2004 Missi Pyle was voted in at #98 on Maxim’s “100 Sexiest Women” list, and in 2008 she married the host of National Geographic’s Expedition Grizzly, Casey Anderson (His best man was an 800 pound bear). Not only is Ms. Pyle a veteran of TV shows like The Tick above, and films like Big Fish (clip below), but she also appeared on Broadway, and with her traveling sarcastic country rock band Smith and Pyle, formed with fellow actress Shawnee Smith.

She’s funny, she’s everywhere, she’s another year older.

Ghostbuster-OneSheetThis is one of those movies that’s so irresistibly classic it’s hard-wired into the DNA of every generation that comes into contact with it, and you know this movie like the back of your hand. Bill Murray: The leader,  Dan Aykroyd: The heart, Ernie Hudson: The hard working convert, Harold Ramis: the brain, Sigourney Weaver: The client, Rick Moranis: The innocent bystander. Add some ghosts, a bitter EPA agent and you have a comedy masterpiece primed for the apocalypse.

Crackle’s Top 10 Movies Before the End: #2 Taxi Driver

Thursday, November 12th, 2009         Posted in Movies | No Comments »

TaxiDriver-OneSheetTaxi Driver is one of the most important, shocking and enduring films in the history of American cinema. Dripping with movie heavyweights including Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Albert Brooks, Harvey Keitel, and Cybill Shepherd this dark movie makes the end of the world seem pretty darn close. In fact, rumor is that Neil Diamond was even suggested to play the lead. If that had happened, it may truly have been the end of the world.

Stripes-OneSheetSo the end of the world is on its way. You’re feeling depressed, worthless and perhaps just a little bit under the weather… what should you do next? Pull a Bill Murray and join the military! Stripes proves that Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman are comedy geniuses, and that all we need to do to protect ourselves is be armed with a joke… (*rimshot*).

Watch The Professional today.

Professional-OneSheetWhen the end times come and Natalie Portman’s life flashes before her eyes one of the first things she’ll get to enjoy is this dramatic action classic. The Professional is a classic of the genre, written and directed by Luc Besson with outstanding performances across the board from the likes of Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and Danny Aiello, including a knockout debut by a 12 year old Natalie Portman.

Explore the International Undead with Tsui Hark’s Vampire Hunters

Monday, November 9th, 2009         Posted in Movies | No Comments »

So if you plowed through the zombie films on Crackle in October, and checked out Crackle’s screening of Bram Stoker’s Dracula on YouTube, maybe it’s time to move onto horror monsters from new cultures. In an effort to keep the spirit of horror alive just a little while longer, take a gander at Tsui Hark’s Vampire Hunters (a.k.a. The Era of Vampires). Still relatively new for Westerners, this is a kung-fu flavored horror flick featuring the traditional Chinese monster known as the Jiang Shi (a good ol’ blood-sucking puss-bucket).

RockCity-OneSheetYou’ve all heard about rock n’ roll heaven, and once the apocolypse comes, and all of humanity lies beneath miles of rubble, this is where everyone will want to be. Rock City — one hell of a band.

Crackle’s Top 10 Movies Before the End: #6 In The Line Of Fire

Friday, November 6th, 2009         Posted in Movies | No Comments »

Clint gets caught In The Line Of Fire.

LineofFire-OneSheetA complex take on a classic Clint Eastwood tough guy role, replete with one of his greatest nemeses, portrayed by John Malkovich. Plus you have Clint getting lucky (punk?) with none other than Rene Russo. Take a crotchety hero who’s “this close” to retirement, throw in a creepy bad guy genius who dabbles in assassination and you have a great film to distract you as the earth implodes.
