Bewitched: Worst Parenting Advice Ever

Thursday, November 19th, 2009         Posted in Television | No Comments »

I am not a nurse or a doctor, and I certainly don’t consider myself an expert on child birth, seeing as how that is a feat I haven’t performed … yet. But I am aware of the world around me, and I have watched some shows on the Discovery Health Channel and TLC. I also once read a hilarious labor and delivery nurse’s blog in its entirety. I figure all this qualifies me as semi-aware of how the whole process works.

Missi Pyle: Sexy, Funny, Friend of Bears

Monday, November 16th, 2009         Posted in Movies, Television | No Comments »

Minisode above, and watch more Pyle in the full length episode, The Tick: “Arthur Needs Space”.

It’s Missi Pyle’s birthday, and that means it’s time for a trivia laden Birthday Haiku tribute:

She’s a Maxim chick,

Who can make you laugh out loud.
Bear specialist’s wife.

In 2004 Missi Pyle was voted in at #98 on Maxim’s “100 Sexiest Women” list, and in 2008 she married the host of National Geographic’s Expedition Grizzly, Casey Anderson (His best man was an 800 pound bear). Not only is Ms. Pyle a veteran of TV shows like The Tick above, and films like Big Fish (clip below), but she also appeared on Broadway, and with her traveling sarcastic country rock band Smith and Pyle, formed with fellow actress Shawnee Smith.

She’s funny, she’s everywhere, she’s another year older.

Thursday, November 12th, 2009         Posted in Television | 1 Comment »

Minisode above, full length episode is here: Married… with Children: “Kelly Bounces Back”.

“Topeka” we’ve found it! “Kelly Bouces Back” is the greatest MWC episode ever…boobs down. She’s gorgeous, blond, dumb, and the inventor of the world famous move, the ‘Bundy Bounce.” But what makes this episode special are two words…CAT FIGHT! Kelly (Christina Applegate) bitch slaps Piper (Tia Carrere) all over the stage and then shows the world the true “Bundy Bounce.” But what wraps this episode up in a truly beautiful iconic TV bow is the guest appearance of Tina Louise, the sultry and sexy Ginger from Gilligan’s Island.

Crackle’s Top 10 TV Before the End: #3 Breaking Bad: “Crazy Handful of Nothing”

Walt and Jesse need a new meth distributor having killed their last one, but the pickings are slim and very dangerous. Luckily Walt can tweak chemistry which turns him into one mean mother f’er. There is a reason Bryan Cranston has won the Emmy two years in a row for his portrayal of Walt White, cancer patient and crystal meth kingpin. And there is no better example of Cranston’s acting chops then his scene with Tuco and then his reaction when he makes it back to his car.

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009         Posted in Television | No Comments »

The end of the world is bound to be made up of two kinds of things, the big dramatic stuff like tidal waves, and small stuff like the kids fighting to get for the window seat in the car. Rescue Me has always managed to combine the dramatic with the humorously mundane. In this special web on-line segment, you get even some insight on how far they’re willing to push this combo, and it’s well worth the watch.

7 Reasons to Love Forever Knight

Monday, November 9th, 2009         Posted in Television | No Comments »

As YouTube has just announced, tonight at 6PM PST YouTube and Crackle will host a viewing party to celebrate the most definitive portrayal of Bram Stoker’s blood sucker with a special showing of Bram Stoker’ Dracula in the YouTube Screening Room where you can comment in real time using your twitter account. To have your updates publish through to the real-time Twitter stream that will be on the page, use the hashtag “#screeningroom“; you will also be able to sign into Twitter on the page to participate. Until then catch this modern Canadian vampire with a badge and a rep.

Here’s the deal: whenever there’s a fad, the movies/TV shows come out to capitalize on the fad, generally suck. That’s why, in the case of vampires, it’s better to look to the past than the future. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Interview with a Vampire. And… Forever Knight.

“Forever Knight?” you say. To which I say: “Yes. It’s awesome. It’s smart, it’s funny, it has hot actors and actresses… well how ‘bout I just make you a top seven list?”

Crackle’s Top 10 TV Before the End: #5 NewsRadio: “The Real Deal”

Minisode above, and also check out the full NewsRadio: “The Real Deal” here.

Phil Hartman was a comedy legend long before his portrayal of ego-centric buffoon Bill McNeal, and this episode is the epitome of who that character was. A cunning linguist who, somehow, only had a cursory sense of the English language. Watching Bill’s insane approach to interviewing Jerry Seinfeld (playing himself yet again) is an absolute joy that never gets old. And to this day I still randomly find myself humming “The Real Deal with Bill McNeal,” …damn, now that’s gonna’ be in my head all day.

Crackle’s Top 10 TV Before the End: #6 The Three Stooges: “Men in Black”

Friday, November 6th, 2009         Posted in Television | No Comments »

Minisode above, and also make sure to check out the full Three Stooges: “Men In Black”.

“Calling Doctor Howard, Doctor Fine, Doctor Howard.” This 1934 Academy Award nominated short laid the groundwork for some of the Stooges greatest gags. This is the first time they smashed through a plate glass door repeatedly, and you might recognize the gag of the Stooges calling out for their props three times. This episode also shows prime use of hammerspace, in this case vehicles its cars in a closet. These gags have been mimicked accross all media for decades. This spoof of Clark Gable’s Men in White is often heralded as the greatest short the slapstick trio ever produced.
